So the curse of the smartphone has always been a short battery lifespan. Here are some specific ways you can save battery life wil hikers playing Pokémon GO!
1. Screen brightness.
When you are walking around, set the screen brightness of your device to a lower setting. You can always brighten the screen when you need it, but if you are walking from A to B, with no Pokémon or Stop on the way, then there's nothing to look at anyway!
2. Music.
As fun as it is, you don't need it - so turn it off. Go to the settings menu (Pokéball>Settings) and uncheck the box.
You can also remove sound effects, but I find these quite useful.
3. Come prepared!
Not an actual saver tip, but carrying a charge cable with you, or even better a portable charger pack (available everywhere), will mean you can charge on the go. Most coffee shops, bars, libraries etc have charge points - so you should always be able to find a place.
4. Disable other apps.
Sure, keeping in touch with friends is important, but when you want to focus on Pokémon, distractions are annoying. Disabling background apps (both from using mobile data and running in general) can boost you phones battery life.
5. Stop fiddling.
In-app actions (like naming Pokémon, evoling and powering-up) although necessary for the game, do use up considerable power. If you are focusing on catching Pokémon and visiting stops, leave all the Poké-admin to when you are indoors and plugged into a charge point.
That's it for the time being, let me know if you've found any useful tips.
